Linn Klout capacitor update, repair and service

This service installs a full capacitor update throughout the Klout that resolves many of the issues that arise with ageing units. The fixed price only includes those capacitors and basic component faults such as rectifier diodes or output transistors. This service fixes many channel drop-out, red starting LED or noise issues, and customers have commented that the kit improves overall sound quality. If there are other faults on the Klout, or damage is more severe, we will quote for the supplemental cost and replacement parts on inspection after the capacitors are changed.

All capacitors are made by the highly reputable Supertech/Panasonic/Nichicon and are 105 °C versions to ensure the long life of the upgrade kit. Supertech capacitors are now used in many high-end audio applications.

All replacement capacitors are of the correct size to fit the boards. Originally, Linn used a very difficult-to-obtain 4-pin capacitor for the main smoothing capacitors, and these are now becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. We use a special 4-pin to 2-pin adaptor PCB, allowing us to use modern 2-pin snap-in capacitors. This eliminates the need to alter the original PCB with additional holes and wire jumpers.

As the amplifier is heavy, ensure you package it well in a carton/box no bigger than 46 x 46 x 46 cm. (Larger box sizes will attract a shipping supplement). Turnaround time is typically 21 days.
