REPLACE FIXED, AGEING MOTOR CONTROL

Your LP12’s motor can only work with the signal it receives.

Older power supplies provide limited control over the electrical conditions that influence motor vibration, noise and platter speed. Component ageing can add further variation over time.

Minos generates two clean motor-drive phases and allows frequency, phase angle and voltage to be adjusted in software. The chosen settings are stored in memory, giving your LP12 a carefully optimised and repeatable foundation.

WHAT OWNERS HEAR

A quieter motor. A more stable musical foundation.

Minos is designed to improve the conditions in which the LP12 motor operates. Owners consistently describe changes that matter musically—not just on a specification sheet.

01

Clearer definition

Lower motor noise helps subtle information emerge more cleanly from the recording.

02

Stronger timing

More accurate drive supports the rhythm, pace and musical coherence LP12 owners value.

03

More stable imaging

A steadier foundation can make instruments and voices feel more precisely placed.

04

45 rpm at the switch

Move between 33.33 and 45 rpm electronically—without moving the belt by hand

ENGINEERING YOU CAN ADJUST

Optimised for your motor—not limited to a fixed factory setting.

Minos arrives with recommended LP12 settings and can be used exactly that way. For owners or dealers who want to optimise further, a USB connection provides control over the parameters that shape motor behaviour.

Clearer definition

Lower motor noise helps subtle information emerge more cleanly from the recording.

Phase angle

Trim the relationship between motor phases for smoother running.

Output frequency

Fine-tune nominal platter speed with 0.001 Hz resolution.

Stored settings

Write the final configuration to memory for normal set-and-forget use.

A CLEAR PLACE IN THE RANGE

Choose Minos for precise, adjustable drive. Choose Zeus for continuous optical control.

Both controllers share the same engineering foundation. The difference is how far you want the system to measure, correct and report what is happening at the platter.

MINOS · £295

Set up precisely. Then enjoy your records.

Minos lets the motor drive be adjusted for your LP12 and stores those settings. It is the natural choice when you want a substantial modern upgrade without a sensor or display.

ZEUS · FROM £595

Measure and optimise throughout playback.

Zeus adds an optical sensor, continuous real-time correction, live speed information and deeper diagnostics for maximum visibility and control.

FEATURE COMPARISON

DESIGNED FOR A STRAIGHTFORWARD LP12 INSTALLATION

A modern controller that respects the original turntable.

Minos mounts in the original Valhalla position and connects to the existing compatible synchronous motor. The supplied aluminium switch fits the standard LP12 switch opening.

Safety: installation involves mains voltage. If you are not suitably qualified or experienced, use an approved dealer or competent technician.

QUESTIONS BEFORE UPGRADING

Minos essentials.

If your setup is unusual, contact Valhalla before ordering and we will help confirm compatibility.

No. Minos produces an accurate, adjustable motor-drive signal but does not use an optical platter sensor. Continuous measurement and correction are Zeus features.
Yes. An upgrade kit adds the sensor, display and Zeus control functionality, protecting your initial investment.
Yes. The supplied aluminium switch provides electronic selection of 33.33 rpm, 45 rpm and off.
Minos is designed to use the original Valhalla mounting position. Compatibility should still be confirmed for modified or non-standard turntables.
No. Recommended LP12 settings are supplied. Software adjustment is available for owners or installers who want to optimise the motor further.
